Links to all our coverage of this promising vintage. Gavin Quinney's image of a parched-looking vineyard in Pomerol, taken on 18 August 2022, is a reminder of the key characteristics of the 2022 growing season: heat and drought.
We will be tasting and reporting on virtually all the wines likely to be of importance in this year's bordeaux en primeur campaign. Julia had a sneak preview of a small selection of wines at the Grand Cercle tasting in London at the end of March, while James Lawther MW and Jancis will both be in Bordeaux later this month, riding horses on the annual merry-go-round of tastings and châteaux visits.
Those interested in the prices and the value they represent should keep an eye on our Members' forum, where Nick Martin of Wine Owners has started the ball rolling with his commentary and will be keeping us up to date on the price of new releases and their value relative to other wines and earlier vintages, as he did for the 2021 vintage. Martin's business management software (Wine Hub), which has been adopted by many in the global fine-wine market to run their operations and to manage customers' experience pre and post sale, provides him with merchant feedback on what's selling well as the campaign progresses, adding to the extensive pricing database he uses to calculate fair value and help navigate this year's en primeur releases.
