The acquisition of Château Montrose by Martin and Olivier Bouygues in 2006 catapulted the St-Estèphe second growth into a new era. If the last years of the previous regime, the Charmolüe family, had been slow-moving, the Bouygues arrived with the ambition and energy to shake things up in a major way and over a relatively short time.
