Chile: a study in Syrah

My MW dissertation studies are obviously getting the better of me, because these days I find myself looking at everything through statistically tinted spectacles while wearing an analytical hat.

Hence I approached a large, generic Chilean tasting with the idea of tasting only single-variety Syrahs to see if there were any conclusions to draw. Fifty wines and one particularly purple tongue later, I examined my data. The mean score of the set is 15.75, which is respectable, though serves to underline the theory that Chile is a source of mainly average-quality wine.
