Another titbit for those entirely uninterested in Bordeaux....
While Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in general seems a little inert of late, this is certainly not the case with its best-known producer Avignonesi. Virginie Saverys, scion of a Belgian shipping dynasty, started to get involved in the Montepulciano estate back in 2007 by buying the Falvo family's 30% stake, but by 2009 owned all 110 ha, which she immediately set about converting to biodynamic methods. Since then she hasn't left a stone unturned at this property, which dates back to the 17th century.
