There is no doubt that the Würzburger Stein is the most famous vineyard of the Franken region and possibly the only one of international renown. Very few wine lovers abroad will have heard of the Escherndorfer Lump (pictured right courtesy of the VDP Franken), although a tax evaluation from 1964 shows that at 16,000 German marks per hectare, it was rated only marginally lower than the 17,000 marks for the best parcel of the Stein, called Jesuitenstein.
