A dozen Chardonnays and a dozen reds hand-picked from New Zealand's second most important wine region after Marlborough. Gimblett Gravels in autumn (May or June presumably) pictured above. NZ Wine Week runs internationally from 8 February when we plan to publish more tasting notes on wines from the North and South Islands.
For many years Andrew Caillard MW has selected his best dozen reds from the dry Gimblett Gravels area within Hawke's Bay on the east coast of the North Island and I have reported annually on my impressions of them.
