Winemaker and activist the late Giorgio Lungarotti founded this family company in Umbria, central Italy, in the 1960s. Today it has a total production of around 3 million bottles and is run by his daughters Chiara Lungarotti (CEO) and Teresa Severino (a winemaker by training but currently marketing and communications manager); Giorgio's widow Maria Grazia is in charge of the Lungarotti Foundation, including the wine and olive museums. They are based in the medieval town of Torgiano, 16 km south-east of Perugia, in the centre of Umbria. See An Italian first for one example of their efforts towards sustainability.
