Italy has its own rich repository of old vines and we begin Old Vine Week by reporting, as with so many other regions, on just the tip of the iceberg.
Julian Leidy – our very bright, highly competent, initiative-driven intern – was putting together the old-vines guide and while doing so, happened to mention to me that he'd visited Benanti in June of this year and might have a photo of their old vineyards to use for the guide.
