February was another bumper month for our tasting note database, with 894 wines scoring 17 or above. Of those, two thirds were 2011 burgundies, and the rest were mostly split between Germany, Portugal, the Rhône and Brunello.
There was also a clutch of notes that snuck into our database as standalones, meaning they were not published as part of tasting articles. Here are some highlights:
- Three bottles of 1985 Lynch-Bages with three very different results, and a 1985 Rioja Alta, 904 Gran Reserva too.
- A lovely Bastardo (aka Trousseau) by Quinta da Muradella in Monterrei
- The 'massively broad' 2005...
