To coincide with British Food Fortnight, the Hart brothers' Soho restaurant Quo Vadis will be hosting an English wine tasting next Wednesday 21 September from 7 to 9.30 pm.
The tasting will be relatively informal but there will be industry experts on hand to offer guidance. Some of the wine estates involved include Jenkyn Place in Hampshire, Astley Vineyards in Worcestershire, Gusbourne Estate in Kent, Three Choirs in Gloucestershire, Bolney Estate in West Sussex, Sharpham Estate in Devon and Davenport Vineyards in East Sussex. Tickets for the event cost £25 and include canapés and other nibbles.
The event is the idea of Quo Vadis's sommelier Jack Lewens (pictured above left), who has been encouraging other restaurants to emphasise English wines next week. Lewens has introduced some unique and competitively priced English wines to the Quo Vadis wine list and these will be available in both the bar and the restaurant at Quo Vadis.
