The Chenin Blanc class in the Fairbairn Capital Trophy Wine Show I recently judged in South Africa was won by Post House Chenin Blanc 2002 which UK-based purple pagers can snap up at their local Oddbins (where the South African section is one of the brighter remnants of the old regime) for just £5.99. I have to say that I did not judge this class and tasted the wine only at the very end when all judges had the chance to assess all the gold medal winners. I thought it very clean and nicely honeyed but a slightly thin expression... |
