The American state of Virginia just south of Washington DC has a governor who is unusually interested in wine. Every year the Governor's Cup Wine Competition, organised with rigour by Jay Youmans MW, is big bananas in the burgeoning wine industry there. With a view to ensuring that the competition serves to improve the quality of Virginia wine overall, all competitors are now given critical feedback by the judges.
