What's worth buying at Asda

Here are my notes on 34 of the wines presented by the UK's second-biggest supermarket Asda (owned by Walmart of the US) to wine writers last month. Below my notes is Melanie Jones' account of her favourites. She tasted a slightly different selection of the 80 or so wines on offer from me, and is a slightly more generous scorer.
As usual, it was a pretty mixed bag, but head wine buyer Philippa Carr MW has her heart in the right place and does at least seem to have injected some personality into the selection, despite what one imagines are...
