Paul O'Doherty is a journalist living in Dublin. He has a books programme, Bookbound, that goes out on Dublin City FM every Monday night and his first book, An Irishman's Diet, based on his spoof Irish Times column, was published last year.
This is the fourth and final collection of his reviews, concentrating on books with a vaguely historical theme written by Americans, of which there is a particularly bountiful crop this year.
