At the beginning of November this year I'll be in Hong Kong, with many of the leading lights of the wine world to judge by the line-up advertised for
WineFuture Hong Kong '11. Robert Parker, Gary Vaynerchuk, Michel Rolland, Angelo Gaja, Miguel Torres, Randall Grahm, Christian Seely, Michel Bettane, James Suckling, all three female Masters of Wine based in Asia – you name them, they are scheduled as speakers.
This is the second WineFuture conference organised by Pancho Campo MW, the first having been held in Rioja in November 2009. You can see coverage of it here and by clicking on the WineFuture tag at the bottom of this article.
In addition to a full programme of talks and presentations, there will be three Grand Tastings: Robert Parker on 20 Bordeaux to watch; me with 'A Taste on the Wild Side', unusual wines that I think deserve more attention; and Pancho Campo with 16 top Spanish wines. I'm in the process of choosing my wines and may well argue in favour of fewer wines than at the other two tastings so that there is time to give a useful amount of background to them.
Tickets to the event are being offered at a discounted earlybird rate of €950 (conference only) or €1,900 (conference and the three tastings) until 15 July. The full prices are €1,200 and €2,500 respectively. Tickets to the gala dinner are also reduced until mid July, from €250 to €190 a pop.
