Brunello di Montalcino 1997

These regular 1997 Brunellos were tasted in London in March 2002. They were noticeably riper than the 1998s (see my tasting notes) and more convincingly concentrated – as witness the relatively narrow spread of scores with a few exceptions at the bottom of this list. My favourite wines appear at the top.
Silvio Nardi, Vigneto Manachiara Brunello di Montalcino 1997 18 Drink 2005-2015
Deep, healthy crimson. Warm, ripe nose, but without the high tones of the Lisini. Chestnuts and even a hint of passion fruit. Great whack of ripe fruit. Rather majestic. Long, but young. Definite slightly dusty tannins...
