- some simple, slightly dilute wines, perhaps because vines were too young or selection was not strict enough
– enormous variation in style, depth of colour and acidity level with about 40 per cent of slightly caricature super-modern wines, presumably because of the variation in picking dates, macerations and, especially, oak regimes
- but also, when the wines were good, some very good wines indeed
