Burgundy 2014 – first impressions

Tasting the 2014s in Burgundy last week was a pleasure – not least because this is a light- to medium-weight vintage for relatively early drinking that is very terroir-specific but is without an excess of anything – though you might argue it is devoid of concentration.
No tart acidities (except at one or two white-wine addresses) – in fact some of the lesser reds may be dangerously soft. Certainly no heavy charge of tannins to make tasting the young wines challenging. (This may not be the case for the tiny-berried 2015s I look forward to tasting this time next year...
