Just back from my autumn vineyard visit. After logging 2700kms on the mainland and the odd island hop, there is no doubt that Greek wine-producers had to face, for a variety of reasons, a difficult vintage and in most cases a qualitative and financial setback. It was a long time coming. Excepting the 'lesser' 1995 and 1996 vintages, modern Greek wine has been blessed with a string of good vintages, some excellent, and towering above all, the sensational 2000 harvest.
