Greece 2002 – the full story

Nico Manessis, author of the excellent Greek Wine Guide has just sent the following report.

Just back from my autumn vineyard visit. After logging 2700kms on the mainland and the odd island hop, there is no doubt that Greek wine-producers had to face, for a variety of reasons, a difficult vintage and in most cases a qualitative and financial setback. It was a long time coming. Excepting the 'lesser' 1995 and 1996 vintages, modern Greek wine has been blessed with a string of good vintages, some excellent, and towering above all, the sensational 2000 harvest.
