Icons old and new

This ragbag of 62 tasting notes is compiled from various recent tastings at which 'icon' wines were promised. This term is much maligned, and is often jokingly said to be two words instead of one in the context of wine.
Yet there is no better alternative descriptor that I'm aware of, and iconic is in fact a very good description for those wines which do represent the peak of their field. Several such names feature here, including Yquem, Seña, Cristal, Solaia, Palmer, Beaucastel and Masseto, all of which are long-acknowledged icons of their type...
