There have long been rumblings about the utility of the terms ‘New World’ and ‘Old World’ in wine. I certainly agree that they are not terribly useful either as descriptors or predictors of style, though, alas, no one seems to have come up with anything better and one can rapidly end up with a semantic and geographical muddle in the attempt.
