Roero is a bit of a problem child.
I have always considered the inclusion of Roero, the direct neighbour of Barbaresco and Barolo, in Nebbiolo Prima, the annual en primeur tasting held each May in Alba, an anomaly. (The picture is taken from the gardens of the Castello di Guarene overlooking part of Roero towards Barbaresco and Alba. The annual Nebbiolo Prima reception on the Sunday before the tastings is held in this landmark that has recently been turned into a small luxury hotel and spa.)
Although it cultivates the same grape, the mighty Nebbiolo, Roero is neither geographically nor politically...
