Our series of Monty Waldin's profiles of leading New Zealand wine producers continues with Huia in Marlborough. Monty is the author of Monty Waldin's Biodynamic Wine Guide 2011 (sold via www.lulu.com).
Between them, Claire and Mike Allan have worked at Cloudy Bay (Mike for Pelorus), Corban’s (Claire), Rapaura Vintners (Claire), Lawson’s Dry Hills (Claire), Vavasour (Mike), Veuve Clicquot (Mike) and Taittinger (Claire). They studied at Roseworthy, and both graduated in 1989. In 1990 they bought the first Huia vineyard, and in 1996 their brand was up and running.
