An old-favourite South African Chenin Blanc in fine form, among many other gems.
There's a nostalgic thread to many of this month's tasting notes, from long-standing friends such as Ken Forrester's splendid FMC Chenin Blanc to wilfully old-fashioned California Chardonnay from Rombauer, and historic and evocative fortified wines: both port and sherry.
There's modernity too, however, as represented by the second-ever vintage of a Napa red blend made by the Cathiard family of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, some decidedly modern Rioja by Manzanos, and an English sparkling rosé from Leonardslee that incorporates 10% Pinotage in the blend...
