Last week we wallowed in South Africa but, as John and Erica Platter know well from their 2002 book Africa Uncorked, there is more to African wine than the Cape. One of the books I read over the summer and enjoyed much more than I expected was In and out of Africa...in search of Gérard Depardieu by British adventurer Francis Gimblett (£7.99, self published, handsomely produced and available from both Amazon and www.thewineadventurer.com).
