Top Rhônes make old bones

While tasting in the Rhône this autumn for my coverage of the 2017 vintage, several other older wines crossed my lips. Some are still very young, others are rather too old, but all are presented to give an indication of their development and maturity across both colours, a wide array of appellations and many different ages. Given such variables, generalisations are impossible, but if you are thinking of broaching any Rhônes this Christmas, I hope these notes will give an indication of their readiness.
