Until recently, I was the calibre of handyman who had to whisper ‘righty-tighty lefty-loosey’ to himself when using a spanner.
Happily after five weeks at the winery my handiness is very much improved. Only today for example, I used the words ‘non-return valve’ ‘racking plate’ and ‘Tim-Tam’ on three separate occasions.
These were admittedly occasions which began with the phrase “what the hell is a -” for there is something new to learn here every day. (The Tim-Tam, for instance, is a delicious chocolate biscuit reminiscent in style of the humble Penguin.) Having said that, I am now familiar with...
