I try to keep a record of all the significant wines I taste outside my professional life, but I have to confess that I'm not as assiduous a note-taker as Michael Broadbent, who would whip out one of his little red notebooks at absolutely every meal he ate if wine was served. Sometimes the occasion is just too much fun to punctuate it with the hiatus of scribbling. I do always try to have a notebook in my bag though and often end up with a backlog of scrawled tasting notes...
