Not the Singapore skyline this month, but that of Shanghai, where many of the Chinese wines below were tasted.
November started with a 48-hour trip to Shanghai, where a collection of Chinese producers were showing wines that gave a snapshot of what is happening in wine there. As well as the French red wine grapes that have helped China stand on the international stage, here were curios such as a white Marselan (the black-grape crossing of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon), a faithful rendition of Barbera, several valiant examples of Syrah and Pinot Noir, and some excellent sparkling wines from Devo...
