Richard and I attempted a two-pronged attack on this year’s generic Australia Day tasting in London at the end of January – though the crowds (which must have cheered the visiting Australians) meant we made slower progress than usual. Perhaps some were lured by this year's innovation of The Great Aussie Taste-Off, during which food-and-wine matching sessions were presented by rival MWs and MSs.
Richard concentrated on Shiraz, on which he reports tomorrow, while I focused on the Chardonnays, whose style has arguably evolved even...
