Climate change and wine


At the World Economic Forum in Davos last week it was difficult to ignore climate change and discussion of its pervasive effects. You might be interested to see this excellent recent article in the Los Angeles Times by Corie Brown on how climate change is likely to affect wine. She calls wine "the canary in the climate change coal mine", a nice phrase.

Meanwhile, Spanish purple pager and successful Master of Wine student Pancho Campo of The Wine Academy of Spain is organising his second International Conference on Climate Change and Wine with such speakers as Al Gore, Greg Jones, Hans Schultz, Richard Smart, Pascal Chatonnet, Erni Loosen, Bruno Prats, Miguel Torres and Peter Hayes of the OIV.

His first such Conference in Barcelona in 2006 attracted 148 wine professionals and this one, maximum capacity 400, is being held in Madrid on February 15 and 16, 2008. You can book here:
