The 2016 vintage in Germany was an emotional roller-coaster ride for growers, but most of them emerged from it smelling of roses. 

There is no such thing as an average growing season any more, but whereas previously winters with too little or too much precipitation caused considerable but not insurmountable problems, temperatures of around 15 ºC (59 ºF) throughout December 2015 and January 2016 in Germany threatened to upset the equilibrium of all sorts of plants, including vines, to an extent never experienced...
