The Chivite family, the leading wine producers of Navarra in northern Spain, announce that the charismatic and youthful Mercedes Chivite López passed away today, suddenly and unexpectedly, even though she had been struggling with serious illness for some years.
“We are mourning for our beloved daughter and sister,” say the Familia Chivite, “and losing a magnanimous and exemplary person whose life’s work to continue we are going to make our task. We are going to preserve her honorable memory. May her peaceful soul rest with God. Funeral on January 7th, 2005 at 16.00 in Cintruenigo.”
Mercedes was certainly a luminous person, passionate about her family and its wines, and far too young for the wine world to lose. We shall remember her with one of Chivite’s best reds tonight.
