Prosecco diluted

New legislative proposals will dilute Prosecco still further. The Consorzio Tutela del Vino Prosecco DOC di Conegliano (pictured) e Valdobbiadene, the association of Prosecco producers from the classic region between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene in Italy's Northeast have applied for elevation of the DOC to the highest legal status of DOCG, or Denominazione d'Origine Controllata e Garantita.
The proposal comes at a time when more and more Prosecco look-alikes hit the market, often not coming from the region around Conegliano at all, let alone Italy. As with the popularity of Pinot Grigio, Prosecco is in danger of becoming a victim of...
