Riservas – Barolo 2008 and Barbaresco 2009
Walter fired the opening salvo on Nebbiolo Prima 2014 and followed up with his notes on Barolo 2010s. This, the second of three tasting articles from Nebbiolo Prima, looks at the Riservas shown this year.
Riservas are supposed to be at the top of the pyramid, the highest level of quality at least in theory because they are underpinned by stricter production rules and longer mandatory cask ageing. But I am never wildly enthusiastic about the wines in general because the fireworks this category suggests are so rarely delivered. This was certainly the case with the 2009 Barbaresco Riservas...
