Exceptionally powerful rainstorms have hit California this week as a result of what is being called an ‘atmospheric river’ hitting the state from off the Pacific Ocean. While the storms are helping to refill reservoirs that have nearly emptied in some portions of the state, they are also causing flooding and road closures.
