In this article we will journey more than 650 km (400 miles) from southern, dry-farmed Maule around Cauquenes, Loncomilla and Sauzal (northern Maule was included in my article on central Chile), through Itata and Bío-Bío to Chilean Patagonia in the remote Osorno Valley in the south of the southern region known as Austral.
